SUPERIOR CHARTER TOWNSHIP BOARD

REGULAR BOARD MEETING

DECEMBER 1, 2008

SYNOPSIS

The regular meeting of the Superior Township Board was called to order by the Supervisor at 7:30 p.m. on December 1, 2008, at the Superior Township Hall, 3040 N. Prospect, Ypsilanti, MI 48198. Members present were McFarlane, McKinney, Phillips, Caviston, Green, Lewis and Williams. Minutes of the November 17, 2008 meeting were approved. The Supervisor discussed recycling, reviewed the proposed Board member committee assignments, and announced a meeting of the Eastern Leaders Group. The reports from Planning and Zoning and the Park Commission Minutes from September 22, 2008 were received. The Board received the Park Commission 2009 Meeting Schedule. The Board received a communication from Jan Berry, Chair, Park Commission, indicating the Park Commission requests the Board appoint a liaison to the Park Commission. The Fire Department reported they received a grant for $114, 000.00 from the Department of Homeland Security to purchase sixteen new self -contained breathing apparatuses, air bottles and a compressor. The Fire Department is responsible to pay $6,000.00 towards the purchase. The Board approved the hiring of Kay Williams as Chief Deputy Clerk . This is part-time position, not to exceed twenty hours per week. The bills were paid as submitted: Law Fund - $6,925.00; Utilities-$14,933.43 for a total of $21,858.93. The Board went into closed session to discuss the Riverine Development Company, Inc.’s application for a Part 31 NPDES Permit. The Board approved having the Township Attorney send a letter to Riverine Development Company, Inc. and the MDEQ Administrative Law Judge acknowledging that since the Abeyance was granted on November 20, 2006, the Township has received eight status reports. The letter will also inform the Riverine Development Company, Inc. that the Township is beginning a review of the Growth Management Plan-Master Plan and to encourage them, as well as other property owners, residents and other interested parties to participate in the review. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
